Formula Renault 2000 - Overview

Formula Renault 2000 is undoubtedly the world's most exciting junior single-seater, launching the careers of current McLaren F1 driver and Grand Prix winner Kimi Raikkonen, fellow F1 driver Antonio Pizzonia and Le Mans 24 Hours winner Guy Smith.

New in 2004 is an update kit making Formula Renault even more desirable for aspiring young racing drivers. Power has been increased to almost 180bhp whilst new aerodynamic modifications will create more downforce and bring the car even closer to Formula 3.

With superb technical backing, a professional and dedicated media service, the most experienced team in motorsport working behind the scenes, the well-established Formula Renault 2000 Championships truly are the place for F1 stars of the future.

Cars and regulations

Formula Renault-series are driven through Europe with the same, very strictly controlled regulations. Small, accepted changes to the racing cars are limited to gears and aerodynamics. All the parts used in the car must be manufactured or approved by Renault Motorsport. This guarantees the equality of the cars and gives all the drivers the same possibilities. Costs are staying in lower level, because the self made special parts are not allowed.

Like in Formula 1, Renault has monocock construction in cockpit made of carbon fibre giving the best protection to the driver. The engine is Clio Renault sport 2,0 litres, 16 valves and 180 hp. The effective engine and the light car give the top speed of 260km/h.
