
RENAULT SPORT developed an innovative new single-seater with the aim of providing up and coming drivers with the best possible Quality, Price and Performance ratio by making use of state of the art technology which until now, was accessible only to the top Formulas like F-3, F-3000 and F-1.
With the aim of extraordinary racing, at a low cost, FRD uses the same cars used in Europe to take drivers like Kimi Raikonen and Felipe Massa straight from Formula Renault to Formula One. Strict specifications like, sealed motors, single make tires, 3 non-interchangeable gear sets, controlled suspension settings, and more, make Formula Renault straightforward to race in terms of budget and setup.
New for 2006, Renault Sport has redesigned the Formula Renault to improve performance by approximately 0.2 to 0.3 second per kilometer on the track. The modifications to the design include more efficient aerodynamics and a new air box to increase the power.
The Asian Formula Renault Challenge represents the pinnacle of Motorsports in Asia, races in 3 different countries, and a support race for the first ever Chinese Formula One race, and then finishing the season off at the legendary streets of Macau.
